Albert, winner/photo RIANovostiOne more millionaire has appeared in Russia. Albert, a 35-year-old Armenian-born resident of Kolpino near St. Petersburg, guessed six numbers out of the six possible in a Gosloto state lottery issue. For about 8 years, Albert, his wife and two daughters have been renting an apartment in St. Petersburg where he runs a small car service station. He bought the lucky Gosloto ticket at a cell phone communications center near his home and already knows how he will spend his prize:

I will buy an apartment for myself and another one for my sister, and I will buy my parents a car and a country house. Earlier, I was planning to create a shop network but the project stalled because of the crisis. Now it will go ahead.

Albert is planning to open 12 shops with about a hundred new jobs for Petersburgers. Once a millionaire, he will take psychologists’ advice and keep on living and working as usual until he adapts himself to his new status. A lottery super prize can make you happy but it may also cause serious stress. There is a whole list of recommendations on how to avoid it. Be careful not to fling your money around or rush to buy luxury villas and islands. Unless you put a grip on overspending, you may run out of money before you even realize that.

Albert became the first ever Russian to win a record lottery prize of 100 million rubles. The winning Gosloto ticket underwent a lengthy authenticity check but no faults were found. Lottery tickets are printed using special technologies, paints and graphic design impossible to imitate. Gosloto organizers warn that tickets must be neither washed, nor ironed. A man who won 30,000 rubles had left his lucky ticket in a pocket of his trousers and asked his wife to iron them. The damaged ticket was not accepted.

Demand for lottery tickets has soared since late last year with 168 million rubles worth of Gosloto tickets distributed in the first quarter of this year. The next super prize is 35 million rubles, well down from 100 million, but still unprecedented for Russia. No other domestic lottery, not even the popular Russian Loto, is offering more.
