Ninth Russian Film Week starts in New York

Sergei Solovyov’s screen adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina opened the Ninth Russian Film Week that went underway in New York on Friday. There will be 11 feature films and one documentary to be shown as part of this year’s traditional autumn showcase of Russian movies scheduled to run until November 22. There will also be a series of roundtables to be held on the sidelines of the weeklong event. In the first such meeting on Monday the prominent Russian director Pavel Lungin will present his latest film about Czar Ivan the Terrible.
