US reluctant to settle Afghanistan’s drug problem

The United States is reluctant to settle the drug problem in Afghanistan, says Chairman of Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service Victor Ivanov. He says he has reached the conclusion following his meeting with the US special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke. According to Ivanov, the US stand on the issue is unilateral and ineffective, while the presence of a 100,000 strong foreign military force only serves to exacerbate tension in Afghanistan.
