Israelis building more houses on West Bank
| Nov 18, 2009 10:11 Moscow Time |
The Israeli authorities have allowed the construction of several hundred flats on Palestinian lands. Jerusalem’s city council has approved a plan whereby 900 flats are due to be built for Jewish families in the city’s southern district Gilo, which is part of the West Bank, — an area that Israel seized in 1967 and subsequently included in Jerusalem. Housing construction on the occupied Palestinian lands is the basic obstacle in the way to resuming Palestinian-Israeli talks that broke off a year ago.
