Russia welcomes major provisions of the new U.S. strategy on Afghanistan and Pakistan. A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry says Moscow hopes that Washington will help Kabul to become the capital of the prosperous state, free from drug trafficking and terrorism. The new U.S. strategy, presented by Barack Obama on Tuesday, stipulates a 30,000-troop increase for Afghanistan.
