Israeli Cabinet approves settlement expansion

Just days after the Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu proposed a suspension of West Bank settlement activity, his Cabinet has proclaimed Jewish settlements a national priority and approved millions of dollars for new construction in them. The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas refuses to re-enter peace talks as long as Israel builds new Jewish homes on occupied Arab land. His stance is in line with the roadmap peace plan from the Middle East mediators Russia, the United States, the United Nations and the European Union.
