Russia will consider NATO’s request for help to win the war against Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after meeting in Moscow with NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen that NATO is asking Russia to provide helicopters and help train pilots, police forces and drug control experts. Lavrov says from its part Moscow expects Brussels to respond to its proposal to join forces in addressing the drug threat. Russia has been providing an air and rail corridor for international coalition forces to transport manpower, military hardware and logistic support equipment to Afghanistan.
