UN sees Russia as major food donor

The Kommersant newspaper carries an interview with deputy head of the UN food program Staffan de Mistrua who says that Russia may rank among the world’s top ten food donors. Russia’s annual food aid to poor nations amounts to $20 million. The Swedish diplomat called it a great achievement. Commenting on the national food doctrine that is currently being developed, he said it would doubtless add stability to Russia.
