By February next year, the participants of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change should present their written obligations on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere, which they are ready to meet, and on how much money they are ready to spend for adapting the developing nations to climate change.
This was stated during a breakfast-news-conference organized by the UN Development Programme in Moscow by the UNDP Resident Representative in Russia, Frode Mauring, who took part in the international conference of UN Framework Convention in Copenhagen. According to him, the summit was more successful than some feared, but less successful than some anticipated. The most important outcome of the summit, according to Frode Mauring, was that the leaders of all countries had realized the importance of the climate change issue. Frode Mauring also assessed highly Russia’s participation at the UN Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen.
