Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has unveiled a just-adopted strategy for the long-term economic development of the Russian Far East and the Baikal Region – a document that he said first of all aims to improve people’s living standards in the region. Speaking at a session in the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok on Monday, Putin also confirmed the government’s readiness to create the so-called advance economic growth zones in the Far East in the coming years. Separately, the Russian PM thumbed up the Vladivostok city government’s efforts to duly prepare for the impending APEC summit, due in Vladivostok in 2012.
