The authorities in Pristine have driven out a delegation of Serb officials led by  Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanovic. As the Serb motorcade approached a Serb enclave in the south of the province a special task police unit forced them to turn back in the direction of Kosovo’s border with Serbia. Even though Pristine repeatedly banned such visits, it’s for the first time that Serb government officials visiting Kosovo have been ordered out of the province. On February 17th 2008 the Albanian authorities in Kosovo backed by the US and a number of EU countries, unilaterally proclaimed the province’s independence from Serbia. Russia, China, India and a number of other countries refused to recognize Kosovo’s independence on the grounds that it runs counter to international law.
