Hamas warns against missile strikes on Israel
Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas has urged an array of extremist groups to immediately halt missile strikes on Israel, the Al-Ayam newspaper reported on Thursday, citing the Islamic Jihad, the Palestine Liberation Movement and People’s Resistance Committees. Last Thursday saw extremists stage at least 10 missile attacks against Israel, which was quick to respond in kind by launching air strikes on the Gaza Strip. Early last year, Israel’s Operation Cast Lead claimed the lives of 1,300 Palestinians, injuring 5,000 more – something that also brought the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks to a standstill.
