The planned January 6 six-party talks on Iran’s nuclear problem will not take place, a UN source said on Thursday without elaborating. The UN’s five permanent members plus Germany earlier agreed to meet this weekend to discuss what to do about Iran's defiance of the IAEA-drafted nuclear deal aimed at luring Tehran into sending its low-enriched uranium abroad for further reprocessing. Russia has, in turn, repeatedly warned against slapping stiffer sanctions on Iran, which Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said might further exacerbate what is already a complicated situation.
