Technical fault may have caused Su-27 crash

The Interfax news agency quotes a source in the commission probing into the recent crash of a Russian Air Force Sukhoi-27 fighter plane as saying that technical malfunction may have caused the crash. The aircraft crashed in the Khabarovsk region, in the Russian Far East. According to the source, the Defence Ministry and Air Force commission has got down to work at the Dzenga airfield near the Komsomolsk-on-Amur, whence the fighter took off. The site of the plane’s crash was spotted earlier today. The search team, currently in the area, is looking for the pilot and flight data recorders. The Sukhoi-27 was on a scheduled training mission when it disappeared from radar screens on Thursday.
