Russia has called on Israel to terminate all settlement activities in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem. This announcement came from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after meeting his Jordan counterpart Nasser Judeh. According to Mr. Lavrov, the current situation in the Middle East gives rise to concern, but “there is still a chance to achieve consensus on the resumption of Palestinian-Israeli talks.” To this end, the sides have to meet their road map commitments, including the termination of settlement activities in all occupied territories. As soon as the talks resume, a Moscow Conference on the Middle East should be called with the approval of all sides, particularly the UN Security Council, the Russian Foreign Minister stressed.
