| Jan 20, 2010 13:01 Moscow Time |
Brazil has opened the world's first 43.5 megawatt ethanol-fueled power plant. The plant was designed by Brazil and US experts and cost 25 billion dollars. The design allows the plant to switch between running on natural gas or ethanol which provides for lower greenhouse gas emissions. Brazil is among the first countries to use ethanol as a substitute for gas.
