Russia is displaying advanced models of military aircraft, helicopters and military transport planes at the Bahrain International Air Show which opened on Thursday.

Forty companies from the U.S., Britain, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain are taking part in the show. The air show is held under the patronage of King Hamad Ben Isa Al-Khalifa. On the eve of the opening, Russian President Dmitri Medvedev sent a message to the King and expressed hope that the air show would promote cooperation between the two countries.

Rostekhnology, Sukhoi and Rosoboroneksport companies represent Russia at the show. In an interview with our correspondent an official of Rosobroneksport, Vyacheslav Davidenko, said the companies of the Unified Aircraft Corporation, and "Vertolety Rossi" or "Helicopters of Russia" holding company also would take part in the show:

"Russia presents over 30 models of advanced aircraft," says Vyacheslav Davidenko. "We offer information about multi-purpose fighter jets, the Su-35 and Su-30 MK2, and the Yak-130 jet-trainer. We hope visitors will show great interest to the MiG-35 fighter jet," Vyacheslav Davidenko said.

It is no mere chance that experts pay special attention to the MiG-35, which is classified as a 4++ generation multi-purpose jet fighter, and its avionics belong to the fifth generation. The jet's main element is the Phazotron Zhuk active electronically scanned array radar. It guarantees the possibility of carrying out fights outside the direct visibility range and attacking several targets in air or on the ground simultaneously. The MiG-35 can be equipped with both Russian and foreign bombs or missiles. The Russian companies have not supplied aircraft to Bahrain yet, but the air show provides an additional opportunity to establish ties with the country and other states in the region, which show keen interest in Russian aircraft and helicopters.

Russian military pilots will carry out demonstration flights of Su-27 planes as in other international aviation shows.
