Japanese Toyota carmaker plans to withdraw at least 2.3 mln US-made cars due to an accelerator pedal defect, the company’s management stated on January 22nd. In late November 2009, the carmaker already faced a similar problem and had to withdraw 4 mln cars from the US. Experts think the defect may hit the company’s image and even push it out of the US market. The US-made model also targeted at the European and Asian markets will be double checked. However, cars sold in Japan will not be withdrawn.
