Sri Lanka`s president wins re-election

Sri Lanka`s acting president Mahida Rajapaksa has won the first election since Tamil Tiger militants were defeated after 25 years of war for independence in the country’s north-eastern areas. With nearly 85% of the vote counted, the Election Commissioner gave Rajapaksa the majority of votes against his rival, General Sarath Fonseka.
