Senior grade students at Israeli schools will study the history of Jewish immigration from the former USSR with a mandatory exam in the subject, an Education Ministry spokeswoman, Gita Rokah, has told reporters. The move coincides with the 20^th anniversary of the “big aliyah” or mass immigration of Jews into Israel during the split-up of the former Soviet Union. Earlier, the course in the history of Jewish immigration ended with the World War II period.
