Russia plans to use its influence on Hamas for bringing forward Palestinian unity and facilitating efforts by the quartette of Middle East mediators to advance the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.    According to the diplomatic spokesman Andrei Nesterenko, Foreign Minister Lavrov is to discuss a range of relevant issues with the political leader of Hamas Haled Mashaal at a meeting with him in Moscow on Monday.   A few days ago, there was a similar discussion at a Moscow meeting between President Medvedev and his Palestinian colleague Mahmoud Abbas.    The mediating quartette for the Middle East brings this country together with the United States, the United Nations and the European Union.
