Iran has confirmed the construction of 10 new uranium enrichment plants. Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, recalled that first Tehran announced its plans last November. The construction of uranium enrichment facilities, as powerful as the Nuclear Center in Natanza, was expected to begin at the end of 2009 or in early 2010. Then President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran was going to start producing up to 300 tons of nuclear fuel per year. Last Sunday Iran said it was going to start enriching uranium to 20% on Tuesday, February 9th. Today Tehran is due to officially inform the IAEA on the issue.
