Russia can play an important role in the Middle East regulation,  the head of the political bureau of Hamas   Khaled Marshal, who  arrived in Moscow on February 8th, stated. Answering a question on  weakening  relations between Russia and Hamas, he said that  it is «absolutely impossible». «It’s my third visit to Moscow, - Marshal said . - I met Russia’s Foreign Minister  Sergey Lavrov in Damascus, and negotiated with his deputy Alexander Saltanov». The Hamas official came to Russia  to hold consultations with the Foreign Minister. One of the essential issues was  overcoming the split between the Fatah and Hamas movements.
