Russia's European security proposals should be taken seriously - Westerwelle
| Feb 12, 2010 09:45 Moscow Time |
The German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle has told a press conference in Berlin that Russia’s proposals for concluding a treaty on European security should be taken seriously. The German official shares Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s opinion that there can be no areas with different security levels. Medvedev suggested concluding a legally binding treaty on European security during his visit to Berlin in summer 2008, to ensure a mechanism to maintain peace in Europe so that no country or international organization would have a monopoly on guaranteeing security.
