Lavrov continues his Latin American tour
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is continuing his tour of Latin America. In Cuba he attended the opening of a Havana international book-fair, where Russia is a guest of honour. Sergei Lavrov will then leave for Nicaragua. The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said in the run-up to the visit that an agreement had been reached on re-opening Russia’s trade mission in Nicaragua and that progress had been made in promoting technological cooperation. In September 2008 Managua officially recognized Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent countries.
