| Feb 13, 2010 21:15 Moscow Time |
Russia’s robotic mini plane made three missions in the past week to survey ice floes in the Arctic. The unmanned plane, “Eleron”, flew from the Russian “North Pole-37” station. According to expedition leader Vladimir Sokolov, the four-kilo plane kitted out with digital photo and video cameras carried out an ice survey for one hour in each flight. The surveillance plane flies on electric batteries and does not pollute the Arctic pristine atmosphere. All fifteen polar explorers working at the station are reported to be feeling well and are carrying out ice, aerologic and meteorological research according to the program.
