Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton arrives in Moscow on Wednesday to meet Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and discuss a new framework agreement between Russia and the EU. The previous agreement expired in late 2007 and talks on a new one have been deadlocked since South Ossetian war in August 2008.

The two will also discuss President Medvedev’s proposal on a new European Security treaty, the situation in Afghanistan, and the Iranian nuclear problem.
