The head of the UN Office in Geneva Sergey Ordzhonikidze considers calls by Libya’s leader Muammar Gaddafi for a jihad against Switzerland unacceptable, France Press reports. Recently, the Libyan leader has urged a jihad against Switzerland over minarets’ ban which followed after a referendum in November 2009. This February Switzerland put 188 Libyans including Gaddafi and his family on «black list» which closed the Schengen zone for them. In early February Libya stopped issuing visas to citizens of many European countries, which was condemned by the European Commission. The situation worsened after Gaddafi’s son Hannibal and his wife were arrested in July, 2008 in Geneva suspected of beating two hotel chamber maids. Libya responded by arresting two Swiss businessmen, one of them is still in prison.
