Medvedev calls for free school meals

President Medvedev has instructed the authorities to provide all school students with free hot meals and upgrade the technological facilities in school canteens. The president made this announcement as he was visiting a school in Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria Republic in the North Caucasus, and he said these requirements should apply to other regions too. In Nalchik Dmitry Medvedev is attending a conference on the North Caucasus. He is accompanied by Vice-Premier and Presidential Deputy for the North Caucasian Federal District Alexander Khloponin. The North Caucasian Federal District, formed on January 19th, comprises Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria Republic, Karachay-Cherkessia Republic, North Ossetia, Chechnya and the Stavropol Region.
