The first group of Russian Air Force servicemen is preparing to leave for Chad on a UN peacekeeping mission, the Air Force spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Drik announced on Saturday. For 8 months, about 100 Russian servicemen will be transporting UN staff and cargo, participating in rescue efforts and making surveillance flights over Chad and the Central African Republic. They will live in special modules adapted to the local climate. The UN peacekeeping operation in Chad began in 2007.
