Egypt reopens Gaza crossing
| Mar 1, 2010 16:58 Moscow Time |
For the first time on two months, Egypt has reopened its Rafah crossing point into Gaza. For three days from Monday, documented migrant labourers, students and people seeking medical treatment can freely stream through. Rafah has been on and off since June 2007 when Gaza fell into the hands of Hamas. In January 2008, Hamas-affiliated radicals blew holes in wire fences around, triggering a rush of Palestinian shoppers into Egyptian territory. Restoring order took the Egyptians several weeks.
