Venezuela bans toy guns
| Mar 3, 2010 11:58 Moscow Time |
A ban prohibiting the import and sale of toy weapons has taken effect in Venezuela. According to the deputies of the National Assembly, this should protect the younger generation from expressions of violence. The Venezuelan state ABN agency reported that bullets are the major causes of death for young people 15-26 years old. The law provides for a penalty of three to five years in jail in case of violations. The legislation also outlaws video games of a “military” nature, which seem to encourage aggression among children and teenagers.
