Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has called for clearing the way for innovation-based development and for upgrading national research institutions. As he addressed a session of the government’s high technologies and innovations commission, the prime minister said Russia’s sustained development lies in the area of innovations and advanced know-how. He instructed the government to build a full-blown intellectual property market, launch new systems for sharing information and data and introduce a single research and development base for investors. 1 trillion 100 billion rubles is to be channeled for fundamental and applied research this year
