The six-way talks on North Korea’s nuclear programme are likely to resume in the first six months of this year, a prominent Chinese politician Wu Dawei said in an interview with the Xinhua news agency. The official leads the Chinese delegation to the talks, which are also attended by the two Koreas, the United States, Russia and Japan. Wu Dawei says the parties to the talks continue to lack trust, and this is the main problem in the way to resuming dialogue with Pyongyang. Pyongyang pulled out of the talks when the international community denounced the test-firing of North Korea’s long-range missile in April last year. A month later North Korea test-fired another missile, resulting in more UN sanctions against Pyongyang.
