The Iraqi Embassy to this country has confirmed the arrival of a Russian team to observe Iraq’s next parliamentary elections on the coming Sunday. There is a strong concurrent presence by Russian newspapers and networks. The general elections will be Iraq’s second in the period since the ouster of Saddam Hussein in 2003. A government that emerges will oversee an agreed pullback of American forces from Iraq.
