Medvedev: Russia ready to aid Turkey to liquidate quake consequences

Russia is ready to provide Turkey all necessary aid in liquidation of the consequences of the earthquake, President Dmitri Medvedev said Monday.

According to the most recent data, the death toll of a devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake in Elazig province, in eastern Turkey, is about 60, with more than 100 reported injured. On Monday, Medvedev sent his condolences to his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gyul, the Kremlin press service reported. According to the information of Russian diplomatic mission in Turkey there are no Russian citizens among casualties.  Earthquakes are a frequent occurrence in Turkey. The most powerful quakes hit Turkey in 1999, claiming some 18,000 lives.
