Russia to launch record number of satellites in 2010

A record number of satellites will be launched in Russia this year, Nikolai Testoyedov, General Director of Information Satellite Systems has told ITAR-TASS, citing decisions passed by the Council of Chief Space Rocket Designers at its recent session in Krasnoyarsk.  He said his company accounts for two-thirds of Russia’s orbital fleet. Information Satellite Systems, the chief developer of the GLONASS national satellite navigation program, is designing fifth-generation satellites, space-based personal communications devices and relay satellites, Testoyedov said.
