Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission has postponed announcing initial results from Sunday’s parliamentary election and will do this once 30 percent of the votes are counted. More than 6,000 candidates from parties and coalitions competed in the election. Iraq's overall turnout was 62 percent. The final election results are expected to be announced no earlier than March 18.
