Iran is lightyears away from developing missiles that can reach the United States or Europe. This means that the planned American missile defences in Bulgaria and Rumania actually have Russia in their sights.  The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov gave this answer on Wednesday to user inquiries on the website of the RIA-Novosti news agency. He said the threat could become real before 2020  and Russia would use the intervening period for preparing a response to it. The Minister also urged the Americans to be more realistic in assessing actual and potential missile threats.
