Russia’s Ambassador to NATO Dmitry Rogozin has welcomed a statement by a high-ranking U.S. military official about the possibility of including Russian radar stations into the American missile defense in Europe. But he added that the main consultations were still ahead. Earlier, Admiral James Stavridis, Commander of U.S. European Command and NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, said that the  U.S. European missile defense could embrace Russian radars, which, apart from enabling it to detect missile launches at an earlier stage, would also help build up trust and cooperation between the United States and Russia. No further details have been disclosed. Moscow proposed the joint use of its Gabala radar in Azerbaijan and a radar in Armavir in southern Russia.
