France to have Russian Emigration Research Center

Russia will finance the foundation of the memorial-research centre of Russian emigration in France. It will be created at the reconstructed Russian Retirement Home in Paris suburb St.-Genevieve-des-Bois. According to Russia's Ministry of Finance, more than 770 thousand Euro is assigned for the project. Russian Retirement Home for emigrants was opened in 1927 under the initiative of the Princess Vera Meshcherskaya. It is located near the Orthodox cemetery where outstanding Russians such as Ivan Bunin, Nikolay Shmelev, Konstantin Korovin, Dmitry Merezhkovsky, Zinaida Gippius, Andrey Tarkovsky, Alexander Galich are buried.
