Russia condemns Israeli plans for new homes in East Jerusalem. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made this very clear in his Thursday’s telephone linkup with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa.  Mr. Moussa, for his part, said the decision by the Jerusalem municipality to approve the 1,600 new housing units in the settlement of Ramat Shlomo rendered useless any further settlement talks with Israel, either direct or indirect. The Palestinian Authority broke off direct negotiations with the Jewish state 17 months ago over of Tel Aviv’s refusal to put a complete stop to the expansion of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
