| Mar 12, 2010 06:41 Moscow Time |
Two minor earthquakes have in the past 24 hours been registered on the Kuril Islands. The first temblor occurred on Kunashir Island on Thursday morning and the second, 4.6 one, came later that same morning on the neighboring island of Shikotan. The Kuril Islands have repeatedly been shaken since a strong, Force 7.9 quake, was registered off the Simushir Island on November 15, 2006 prompting the evacuation of thousands of local islanders from coastal areas.
