The heads of the Russian and Japanese space agencies have discussed the details of a planned mission to Mercury. The project, that also involves the European Space Agency, envisions sending in 2014 a probe to fly around Mercury and study its atmosphere and surface. During his meeting in Tokyo with his Japanese colleague Kenzi Tatikawa, the head of this country’s space agency Anatoly Perminov also discussed a series of joint experiments to be carried out on board the International Space Station.  The sides also agreed to work closer together on systems of remote probing of the Earth to ensure global environmental stability, Anatoly Perminov said.
