According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Russian double-covered nuclear reactors and mechanisms can withstand a direct hit by a medium-sized aircraft. Mr. Putin also spoke about a planned large-scale national program on developing atomic energy. Among other advantages of the nuclear power industry, the Prime Minister mentioned the terms of the modern power plants’ lifespan of at least 50 years, the low cost of electricity production, as compared with stations, operating on coal and gas, as well as the ecological aspect.
