Russia and India are strategic partners. This is the reflection of the two nations’ sympathy for each other, but, first and foremost, evidence that the two countries’ geopolitical interests coincide, said Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in the wake of his online conference in Delhi. The conference linked the Indian capital to the country’s three largest cities, namely Bangalore, Calcutta and Mumbai. The Voice of Russia covered the event live. As Vladimir Putin answered questions from the audience, which included, among others, the Voice of Russia’s listeners in India, he elaborated on prospects for bilateral cooperation. He said that priority should be given to nuclear energy, space research and high technology. By way of an example Putin pointed out the creation of the Russian GLONASS satellite navigation system. The system has been partly developed by Indian experts. As the Russian Prime Minister pointed to the two countries’ strategic partnership in fighting terrorism, he said that both Russia and India were concerned about extremist activities, including in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He called for lending international aid to Islamabad, to counter terrorists.
