Tug-of-love Finnish husband gets Russian visa
| Mar 12, 2010 16:31 Moscow Time |
Russian officials have denied reports that a Finnish man in a child custody battle with his Russian ex-wife has applied for Russian citizenship. At the same time, they have told the press that Mr Veli-Pekka Rantala has received a visa to visit Russia. According to his solicitors, any actual citizenship bid is a thing of the future. The disputed child meantime, a seven-year-old-boy named Robert, is in institutional care in Turku. Authorities placed him there after he bragged about a possibility to be moved to Russia. They say they are filing a lawsuit to strip his father and mother of parental rights to the child.
