Contradictory news reports come from the border between Georgia and South Ossetia after the Imedi Georgian TV channel made a mock news report that Russian tanks had invaded Georgia this Saturday. South Ossetia’s Defense Ministry says that a convoy of Georgian military machines has been seen this night near the Georgian village of Mejvriskhevi, and the Ministry has reported this to EU inspectors. But the South Ossetian border service denies that there are any Georgian troops seen near the Ossetian border. The Mejvriskhevi village is far from the border, they say. The mock report was a shock for all Georgia’s population. The Imedi TV company said that what they showed was “a likely scenario if all Georgians do not consolidate against Russia’s plans”. President Saakashvili has ordered his spokesperson to urgently come to the studio and assure the people that the scenario wasn’t at all likely.
