The Georgian opposition is going to sue Imedi TV channel for demonstrating a bogus report which caused panic among the population. The opposition leaders, Nino Burdzhanadze and Levan Gachechiladze, demand that the channel be deprived of the broadcasting license. On Saturday evening Imedi showed a mock news report saying that Russian tanks are moving towards Tbilisi, President Saakashvili is killed, the leader of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoyta is assassinated and some of the opposition support the Russian invasion. Only in the end of the report it was said that it was only a picture of possible events. In Russia and South Ossetia the report was described as ‘a provocation of the Saakashvili`s regime’.
