Big turnouts at elections in Russian regions

Reports speak about big turnouts at the elections to local parliaments in 76 regions of Russia. According to the data of the Central Election Commission, about 32 million of voters have been registered across the country which is one third of all Russian citizens who have the right to vote. At least 25% of the electorate should vote to declare the elections valid. The candidates from six political parties are taking part in the elections, namely - the United Russia, the Fair Russia, the Communist party and the Liberal Democratic party. No serious violations during the elections have been reported. Initial counts are expected late Sunday.
